I spent 20 years designing complex buildings for some of the world's most innovative firms — then moved to Bend and realized the work I care most about is smaller, more personal, and closer to home. I'm a licensed architect with deep roots in high-performance design, and I bring that same rigor to custom homes, ADUs, and infill housing. Good architecture shouldn't be reserved for big budgets. Based in Bend, working across the Pacific Northwest.
A custom home built around two people who live fully outdoors. The brief was specific: a garage sized for two snowmobile rigs, light-filled living space, and a deck that captures the Cascades at sunset with room for a barrel sauna. No wasted square footage, no generic solutions — just a house that fits one particular life in one particular place.
My wife Caela and I designed, permitted, and GC'd this detached ADU in our own Seattle backyard — a quiet workspace and guest suite carved out of a busy family life with two young kids. I self-performed much of the construction. It's the project that taught me the most about what clients actually go through, and why the architect-as-builder perspective matters.
Four detached homes on a single infill lot, designed for the people who make Bend work but can't afford to live here. Starting from a feasibility study and navigating all of Bend's Middle Housing Land Division process, this project puts workforce housing where it belongs — woven into the neighborhood, not pushed to the edge of it.
Whether you're sketching ideas on a napkin or ready to break ground, I'd like to hear about your project. Custom homes, ADUs, infill development, or just a question about what's possible on your property — reach out and let's start a conversation.
